Deadpool Coming to Life

The Process

I had this vision of Deadpool breaking the fourth wall so hard that he emerged right off the page and I wanted to bring it to life. I found a hardcover Deadpool graphic novel to destroy and started slicing the pages into thin strips. At the same time I bought a wooden modeling doll off Amazon to act as the bones of my Deadpool. I formed hard clay around the figure and slowly shaped it into a muscular superhero. After I was happy with the clay model formed I the figure to the graphic novel temporarily to form the pages around him. I started running glue along the clay and sticking the strips to him in different orientations to achieve the exact shape of the clay. After days of glue, dry, glue, dry, the piece was slowly coming together. I decided to add paint to show his figure coming into real life, as he emerges off the page his real life form starts to emerge. After he was wrapped and painted, I built a base for the book to sit on and it now stands on a shelf in my apartment.
