I started my art career late in life, twenty-eighteen to be exact. I felt I was behind compared to my peers, due to my lack of prior experience. This pushed me to work as hard as I could to catch up as quickly as possible, in order to see myself as a real artist. I felt I had to almost prove it to myself that I could be an artist. Looking back now I can see many points in my life that had lasting, creative, impacts on my life that compounded into the art I create today. This journey is formatted in miniature scale dioramas of a wooden doll in dreamlike settings, exploring these impactful moments that led to the artist I am today. I explore concepts like tinkering with toys, the effects of music on my life, and technology throughout the years. The use of this specific wooden doll in various sizes, alludes to one of the first photos that inspired my narratives through photography, a black and white photo of a wooden doll peeking out a window. This photo showed me how to show emotion through an inanimate object and has evolved into the series presented to you.
