I started my art career late in life, twenty-eighteen to be exact. I felt I was behind compared to my peers, due to my lack of prior experience. This pushed me to work as hard as I could to catch up as quickly as possible, in order to see myself as a real artist. I felt I had to almost prove it to myself that I could be an artist. Looking back now I can see many points in my life that had lasting, creative, impacts on my life that compounded into the art I create today. This journey is formatted in miniature scale dioramas of a wooden doll in dreamlike settings, exploring these impactful moments that led to the artist I am today. I explore concepts like tinkering with toys, the effects of music on my life, and technology throughout the years. The use of this specific wooden doll in various sizes, alludes to one of the first photos that inspired my narratives through photography, a black and white photo of a wooden doll peeking out a window. This photo showed me how to show emotion through an inanimate object and has evolved into the series presented to you.

My work explores the journey of a crew of miniature men crafting a pirate ship to live out their wildest dreams. I've created almost everything within the frame by painting purchased figurines as well as 3D printing props, and other parts necessary for scene's. I used real sand and background elements to create the illusion of realism that I was going for. The narrative shows time passing as a creative ensemble of tiny people paint, cut, hammer, attach, and carry their parts to their masterpiece, in one instance you can see the whole crew fighting the storm to attach the side of the ship and another image where two man are on their way to attach a door.. The audience will follow the path and explore all the details in each print as they travel through the process required to build a pirate ship.

My work is a dive into my personal relationship with fears and how they can be thought of in different ways in order to make them less of a burden. By using playful figures in cartoon-like stances I am giving my fears a more childlike view and making some harsh realities a little more palatable for any viewers. Each photo explains a different fear from more metaphorical things such as loss in general to more literal subjects like the fear of getting older or dying. The work follows the same character in different forms to represent me, but also to put the viewer into the perspective of the one man shown to relate to some of the more common fears.

This series is entirely shot on a Rolleiflex 2.8f Twin Reflex Film Camera, then scanned into digital format using a professional Epson Scanner. The 120mm film allows for 12 images to be taken by one roll of film, therefore to get all images necessary I had to shoot over a dozen rolls of film and develop them by hand in order to capture the perfect moment. The images follow a wooden man as he's lost and confused and needs to acquire his lost wardrobe before sundown and the temperature drops. He faces many obstacles from giant beasts to vertical climbs, the doll finds their way through it all, until his untimely undoing, seemingly looping back to the original image. It's my own version of an old school looping stop motion photo series just for you.
Traveling through different adventures with a toy camera by my side, I explore and document the wonderful reality we live in through a creative lens, unlike any other.

The journey of life takes us down many paths, but on Buddhist principle read that one thing will stick with us through all of the crazy paths of life, and that is suffering. Suffering is inevitable and a part of life, similar to water keeping us hydrated, the suffering tells us what is truly goof in this world. The reason that suffering is a prominent part of a lifestyle centered around peace and enlightenment is because resistance is almost as bad for your mind and body as suffering. The only way to find that balance is to discover that you can be something better and then diving into the suffering side of your mind to conquer it head on. By acknowledging and discovering the cause of the suffering you can grant yourself the ability to find a balance and appreciate the peace to the same degree as the suffering prior to your journey. This collection follows a visual representation of that fight and I hope it has the ability to help you through your own battles.
